Priamus System Technologies AG of Schaffhausen, Germany, announced at K 2013 that its Fillcontrol system can be used for cold-runner molds for liquid silicone rubber, a process where it’s even more important than hot-runner molds to achieve equal filling of all mold cavities.
That’s because different volumes in the cavities will cause a different degree of compression after cross-linking, Priamus officials said.
Fillcontrol automatically detects the melt front, using cavity pressure or cavity temperature sensors, and delays the valve gate opening until an equal filling will be reached.
In other news, Priamus has developed a line of so-called “heavy duty” cavity temperature sensors which can be used at mold temperatures up to 610° F. They sensors use robust connecting cables, and they can be ordered with a hardened sensor front for use with abrasive materials.
The company also introduced a melt temperature sensor for use in the machine injection nozzle or the hot-runner manifold. This sensor can withstand temperatures of 840° F.
Also at the K show, Priamus:
c Rolled out the Priafit mounting sleeve, a combination mounting nut and distance sleeve, for mounting the sensors.
c Showed the BlueLine voltage module for injection molding presses. It measures analog machine signals at the control cabinet, where they converted to digital signals and finally connected with the BlueLine devices by one single hybrid-bus cable.
c Announced that Kiekert AG, the maker of automotive locking systems based in Heiligenhaus, Germany, has adopted Priamus systems at its injection molding operations.
