Michigan lawmakers have scheduled a joint legislative meeting at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 15 to hear about automotive advances and what the state can do to further attract automotive jobs and investment.

State Representative Frank Foster, a Republican from Foster and chair of the Michigan House Commerce Committee, and Senator Mike Kowall, a White Lake Republican, chair of the Senate Economic Development Committee, set the meeting for the auto show’s first industry preview day.

The meeting is open to the public and takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cobo Center.

Among those scheduled to give testimony before the joint committee are:

  • Carla Bailo, senior vice president of research and development, for Nissan North America.
  • Nigel Francis, senior automotive adviser, State of Michigan.
  • Rob Luce, program manager of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s MICHauto economic development initiative.
  • Scott Paradise, vice president of marketing and business development for the Americas, for Magna International Inc.
