NGR Next Generation Recyclingmaschinen GmbH has acquired a majority stake in German specialty machinery maker Dr. Collin GmbH.
Dr. Collin produces a wide range of equipment, including laboratory and pilot-scale equipment for extrusion.
NGR, based in Feldkirchen, Austria, makes recycling equipment. Dr. Collin is in Ebersberg, Germany.
“If you look at the product lifecycle of plastic scrap, NRG has always been active in supporting the stages of product manufacture and recycling,” NGR CEO Josef Hochreiter said in a news release. “With the expertise of Collin we are expanding our capabilities in product design — an important stage in exploiting the full potential of plastics — and pointing the way toward effective use of finite resources.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The two companies will continue to operate independently. Heinrich Collin — the “Dr.” in Dr. Collin GmbH — will retain a minority interest. He will provide support to the company and his successor, Friedrich Kastner, who is the new CEO of Dr. Collin.
Dr. Collin’s product line includes pilot blown film lines, stretching lines that do machine-direction orientation (MDO) and transverse-direction orientation (TDO), equipment for spinning filaments, bench-top roll mills and film testing devices, twin-screw kneaders, pelletizers, pipe and extrusion lines for pipe, tubing and medical catheters.
According to Dr. Collin’s website, the company, founded in 1972, also has developed technology to produce specialty films for electronic and battery applications, as well as optical films for monitor screens.
Combined, NGR and Dr. Collins have more than 220 employees. |
