Faurecia's new plant inside customer Audi's production facility focuses on just-in-time assembly of bumper fascias and front-end modules.
Auto supplier Faurecia SA, has opened a new assembly plant in Brussels, Belgium, directly inside customer Audi’s production park.
The site, which spans more than 9,000 square meters, started production in January and delivers front and rear bumper fascias as well as front-end modules for the Audi S1 and S1 Sportback models.
A German Faurecia plant handles injection molding and painting of the bumpers and front-end modules and the components are then sent on to Brussels for assembly and delivery.
Faurecia, based in Nanterra, France, has targeted exterior systems and front-end modules as a key products for future growth.
The company also produces interior parts, including instrument panels and seats.
It recently opened a new seat cover and trim technology laboratory in Mexico. The company says that the new laboratory will enable Faurecia Automotive Seating to better meet the expectations of those of its customers with plants in Mexico, such as Nissan, Volkswagan and Chrysler.
At the end of 2013 the company had 10 plants in Mexico and employed around 9,000. By 2020 Faurecia says Mexico will be producing 4.5 million vehicles a year. |
