Injectronics Corp. will expand its clean room production to 8,000 square feet as part of a $2 million project.
Injectronics Corp. is investing over $2 million at its Clinton, Mass., facility to double the size of its Class 8 clean room, add more white room space, and create rooms for a testing lab and contract manufacturing.
“We’ll be hiring in the next few months — what we need is being finalized in the next week or two,” noted Michael Simmons, vice president of engineering and operations, in a phone interview.
He said that the company is experiencing growth in two key markets: diagnostic and medical devices. So Injectronics is updating the facility to meet the demand.
The company will expand its ISO clean room space from 4,000 to 8,000 square feet, convert 3,500 square feet of warehouse space into a new white room molding space, and add 2,500 square feet for two more rooms. One will be for contract manufacturing, while the other will house a quality, metrology and testing lab.
The clean room will be for multi-cell automation for the manufacturing of a diagnostic disposable cartridge that requires the injection molding of micro-fluidic components and the functionalization of the card’s chemistry. Another customer’s project will also need molding of a micro-fluidic diagnostic card with automation of value added features.
Simmons said the company currently has more than 100 employees and may hire as many as 30 more to handle upcoming projects. |
