Swedish auto supplier Autoliv is planning to expand output at its production facility in Sopronkövesd, in northwestern Hungary. By 2018, the firm will take on 800 new workers at the plant, reported local news site Autopro.hu.
As a result of the planned investment, the Swedish manufacturer is aiming to double the output capacity of its facility which makes car safety systems. The amount of the investment was not disclosed.
The Stockholm-based company makes a wide range of car components. Its product portfolio includes seat belts, airbags, steering wheels, safety electronics and other products manufactured with the use of various plastics. The firm’s output is supplied to as much as 100 car brands, including the Volkswagen Group, Audi, BMW, Toyota, Citroën, Volvo, Chevrolet, Chrysler and Cadillac.
In addition to its operations in Hungary, Autoliv has facilities located in 28 countries worldwide and operated by a workforce of about 56,000 employees, according to data released by the Swedish manufacturer. | |
