SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Raven Industries Inc.’s Engineered Film Division is boosting its ability to handle lightweight barrier film with the addition of a new seven-layer oriented barrier film line.
“The addition of this new seven-layer line expands the range of product capabilities beyond our existing barrier lines by targeting thinner film profiles, with several distinct features to realize increased throughput efficiencies for consumer-sized roles, which are packaged and sold straight off the line,” said Anthony Schmidt, vice president and general manager for Raven Industries Engineered Films, in a press release.
The Sioux Falls company said that line is able to handle barrier films ranging from 0.80 mil to 10 mils in thickness. It features targeted in-line annealing to control film tension and web-flattening characteristics for use in lamination and original equipment manufacturer conversion operations.
It includes a winding system with full-shaft handling and auto-conveyors to produce small consumer packaging, as well as large-scale mill rolls up to 40-inch diameter.
Raven worked closely with Davis Standard LLC to commission and qualify the new line which was installed earlier this year.
Raven listed its North American film and sheet sales at $142 million in the most recent Plastics News’ rankings. It operates out of a 330,000-square-foot facility in South Dakota and has 292 employees. |
